Founding Story
Celebrating over thirty-five years of service to the greater Princeton community, Senior Care Services of Greater Princeton– originally known as the Health Care Ministry of St. Paul’s – was established in 1984 by the late Sister Mary Ancilla of the Sisters of Mercy and the Princeton Council 636 of the Knights of Columbus, under the aegis of St. Paul Church.
Members of the Knights admired Sister Mary Ancilla’s initiative in assisting the elderly who wished to remain in their own homes rather than moving to an institutional setting, and began supporting the organization financially. Thus was born one of the early aging-in-place programs in the United States.
In 1989, the Health Care Ministry of St. Paul’s was incorporated as an independent 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization. Later, the name was revised to Senior Care Ministry. In 2019, the name was permanently changed to Senior Care Services of Greater Princeton.
Currently, SCSGP’s team of over 50 volunteers serves approximately 75 clients.
